The other type of fragrance for men is an aftershave. It is what can be used when a gentleman finish shaving by applying on the area that has been shaved. Even though aftershave may not be the fragrances that directly design for use as a fragrance, but it is used to maintain moisture and condition of the skin and this is the main purpose of aftershave.

However, aftershave is considered as one of the types of men's fragrance as it provides good and attractive scent and could be very long lasting. Therefore, many of aftershave manufacturers try to make aftershave to be more than what is used for maintaining skin condition, by adding scent into the liquid. So now aftershave is one of the most popular fragrances for men because they do not have to buy additional perfume or cologne but just use quality aftershave. In all, no matter which type of men's fragrance that you are using or planning to have one. Fragrances do not only neutralize unpleasant smells and jazz up one's wardrobe but it can actually affect the wearer's disposition and mood. Researches say that fragrance can be associated to their perceived quality. For example, musky perfumes can make a woman or man "sexy", while romantic scents can make a woman "pretty". The effect is not on the wearer alone but could also have the same effect on the people who smell the scent.

In addition to influencing one's mood and disposition, fragrances are also believed to have other benefits. For one, fragrances can help one relax. Perfume ingredients such as citronella and eucalyptus contain adelhydes, which have calming effects on the body. Scents such as that of bergamot and lavender on the other hand, act as some kind of sedative, leading to a more restful and tension-free slumber.

It can also increase alertness and efficiency as some ingredients are said to increase concentration. Researchers say that ginger, sandalwood and rose 'which are common perfume ingredients- can significantly stimulate the brain neurons. Fragrances can boost self-esteem, improve mood, seduce and can even help lose weight!

Having known all these benefits that one can reap by wearing perfumes, the next issue now is to how to prolong the scent. With the relatively steep price, it is not practical to spray yourself with perfume every few minutes. This will also lead to people around you having headaches from such a strong scent!

The main and most-recommended trick is to layer the scent. Designer fragrances specially, offer perfumes that come with lotions, shampoos and shower gels of the same scent.

Fragrance layering means that all your body products are of the same exact scent, allowing you to wear the scent over and over again and thus increasing the chances of it lingering throughout the day. For example, you can start by a lavender-scented shower gel and shampoo, followed by a lavender lotion, lavender powder and finally lavender perfume of the same exact scent.

If your favorite perfume however does not come with matching powder, lotion and shower gel, what you can do is put a few drops of essential oil (of your favorite scent of course) on your other body products to create some sort of uniformity and consistency. If you are not using parfum (which have higher concentrations of essential oils), you can purchase essential oils from stores and put a few drops on your gel, lotion and shampoo.

Make sure to bring a small bottle of your perfume wherever you go. If you have just gone through a very hectic and strenuous day, chances are, the scent will wear off, despite the fragrance layering.

The fragrance industry has turned into a global billion-dollar industry. This only proves that more and more people believe in the benefits of perfumes, despite the increasing global crisis and the increasing prices.

Fragrance lamps are a great choice if you'd like to not only scent your home with a pleasing aroma, but eliminate those not so pleasing aromas as well. A fragrance lamp works by having an open flame for just two to three minutes (this makes them much safer than candles, which require a flame in order to be used!), and then it burns on its own for another half hour to forty five minutes. The purpose of even lighting a fragrance lamp for burning is so that the flame heats up a special stone inside it. That stone then continues to remain heated for another 30-45 minutes. And unlike a typical candle, a fragrance lamp can effectively fill a one thousand square foot area with its fragrance.

For over a hundred years fragrance lamps have been in use. Their original purpose was to provide refreshing and cleansing scents while removing unpleasant smells from the air. A fragrance lamp works by converting alcohol in fuel form into anions (negatively charged ions), all with the catalyzing stone which is heated by the initial open flame. The created ozone binds then partner with airborne smells and particles, which eliminates them from the air you are breathing. This process also allows the introduction of pleasant scents or neutralizing scents, via special fuel that is added to the fragrance lamp.

Fragrance lamps are incredibly easy to use. Simply light the special stone and allow it to burn for two to three minutes. Blow out the flame, and let the heated stone do the rest. Fragrance is absorbed in the stone, which is porous, and then re-leased in the catalytic conversion. The air in the room is cleansed, bad smells are removed, and if your fragrance lamp has a scent, then that scent will be given off.

One of the best things about owning a fragrance lamp is that there is little maintenance to worry about. With no hot wax runoff or built up soot to wipe down, the only thing you need to focus on is periodic replacement of the wick and burner stone and swapping out one scent for the next if you want to try and smell something new. Scent swapping or changing the fragrance lamp oils is probably the most time consuming part of maintaining fragrance lamps, since it requires pulling out the wick, allowing it to dry completely (this takes twenty to thirty minutes), and then putting it back in before adding the new scent.
